Step 1: Visit Trezor’s Official Setup Page
To start the setup, go to the official site: https://trezor.io/start. Choose your device model (Trezor Model T or Trezor One) and follow the guided instructions.

Step 2: Connect and Install Trezor Suite
Plug your Trezor into your computer using the USB cable. If prompted, install Trezor Suite — the official desktop application for managing your Trezor wallet. You can download it from the official site.
Once installed, open the application. It will detect your device and prompt you to install the latest firmware (if needed).

Step 3: Initialize Your Wallet
Click “Create new wallet.” Trezor Suite will begin generating your wallet’s cryptographic key pair.
This is where you will set up two vital security layers: your PIN code and recovery seed phrase.
Step 4: Create a Secure PIN Code
Your PIN protects your Trezor device from unauthorized access. You’ll be asked to enter a PIN using a randomized keypad display on the Trezor device and the Trezor Suite interface.

Each time the PIN layout will shuffle, ensuring resistance against screen-loggers or spyware. Choose a unique PIN with at least 6 digits. Avoid using easily guessable codes like 123456 or birthdates.
Step 5: Write Down Your 12/24-Word Recovery Seed
Once your wallet is created, Trezor will generate your recovery seed phrase. This is either a 12-word or 24-word list depending on your device and settings.
This is your only backup to recover your wallet if the device is lost or damaged. It will be displayed only once on your Trezor screen—never online.

- Write the words down in order on the provided recovery card or your own secure storage medium.
- Do not take photos or store them digitally.
- Keep this card in a safe, private location.
Step 6: Confirm Recovery Seed (Optional but Recommended)
Trezor Suite may prompt you to confirm your seed phrase by selecting a few words from it. This ensures you’ve written it down correctly and in the right order.
If you skip this step, do a manual double-check. It's better to take a few extra minutes now than risk losing access later.
Step 7: Your Wallet Is Ready
Once you've created your PIN and backed up your recovery seed, your Trezor wallet is ready to use. You can now:
- Send and receive cryptocurrencies
- Check balances securely
- Label and organize accounts
- Enable passphrase protection (for advanced users)
Explore the Trezor Learning Center for tips on managing multiple assets, privacy features, and connecting to decentralized apps.
Best Practices After Setup
- Keep your device firmware updated.
- Store your recovery phrase offline in a secure location.
- Enable passphrase protection if you want to create hidden wallets.
- Never share your seed, PIN, or passphrase with anyone.
